Well, the box showed up this morning and I installed Leopard on the MacBook. Got done about an hour ago, and have been playing.
Only “bad” thing was I need a funky 802.1x setup for wireless, and even though it was working in 10.4, the upgrade got done and it didn’t quite work right after 10.5 came up. But… a few clicks in the Networking setup, and it was happy again. 802.1x auth always seemed like an “add on” in 10.4, but it looks much better integrated in 10.5, including an “802.1x WEP” setting in the wireless security drop-down.
So far, everything seems to work, the machine’s similarly fast as before, and I’m happy. There were some updates to download to Remote Desktop Client, Garageband, and something else… nothing huge yet.
Haven’t tried Time Machine (external disk is at home and I’m not there right now). Haven’t tried Parallels to see if it barfs. Got some more playing to do, but have tried iPhoto (slightly nicer, nothing earth-shattering) and played in all the system settings… some incremental neat changes in some things in there… and iChat.
Generally “if you don’t hear from me” it all went great. Will post any really nifty or other good/bad news as I run across things.

Every time you get on the air, you need to decide what’s most important to you …the best interests of Amateur radio as a whole, or your own pride or ego or “rights”.

Nicely said, Mr. Hollingsworth!
